Lockyer Creek Railway Bridge (Murphys Creek)
The Lockyer Creek Railway Bridge is a heritage-listed railway bridge that is on the Toowoomba to Helidon line, situated just out of Murphys Creek Queensland Australia, over the Lockyer Creek. This bridge was designed by William Pagan and built between 1910 and 1911. The bridge was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992.
The bridge is one of two similar cast-in-situ reinforced concrete arch railway bridge in the Lockyer area, the bridge has three big spans each supported impressive arches. the bridge boasts impressive engineering accomplishment for this time and is still impressive to this day. In Australia the concrete arch railway bridges are unique to Queensland and South Australia, this bridge is one of the largest spans of its type in Australia (mg-philately, 2008).
The Lockyer Creek Bridge still currently being used for main rail traffic.
